The Kungsholmare

Feb 8, 2005

"Because envy is the color of Kungsholmen."

— 60cl Absolut Vodka
— 20cl Rose's Lime Cordial
— Top with Rekorderlig p‰roncider (sparkling alcoholic pear cider, may be hard to find outside Sweden) (but try anyway)
— Decorate with a kiwi slice

Build in a highball glass stacked with ice. Or, if you are in neder Kungsholmen, shake the vodka and lime cordial with fresh ice in a cocktail shaker, pour into the highball, then top with pear cider. Don't forget the kiwi.

Notes: P‰roncider is delicious, if a little sweet, and certainly underused when it comes to constructing cocktails. Adding Rose's lime returns some of the tartness we expect from pears, and the combination can expertly mask copious quantities of vodka. This drink is delicious, and if stuck to all night produces very little by way of hangovers the next morning.

The Kungsholmare was invented last Friday; extensively product-tested to rapturous acclaim at a party shortly thereafter, and has just been submitted to drinkalizer. All ingredients can be found at the Kungsholmen coop or Systembolaget.

60 cl vodka! That's one nasty drink.

Where I come from, that's just a double shot; and it's diluted by p‰roncider, which is only 5% proof (vs. 80% proof for the Absolut).

Wow, remind me never to enter a drinking competition should I ever be close to where you come from.

Oh. I believe I now see your point. Please divide all measures by 10.

Stefan, You are soon an official Swede.
Kungsholmaren is almost a classic Grogg!

It will be added to Drinkalizer, but it might take a while. Meanwhile, check out Sweet'n'Good:

almost the same but with a few drops of Xantȥas well.

Cheers,

Sounds & looks (kiwi?!) like a foo foo (chick) drink. Yummy! Bring it on, in its reduced measurement, of course.

Well, at the very least it's an equal-opportunity drink.

I've been looking for Rekorderlig ciders in the USA ever since loving them in Sweden two years ago. Does anyone know where to find them in New York?

I'm afraid not. There's teh Canadian mail-order company, but that's about it. Perhaps this is a business opportunity?

Doug, I've been searching for Rekorderlig Cider in the States too, but to no avail. I can't even find a company that will ship it to the States. My girlfriend is Swedish and she loves the stuff (so do I), but I can't get her any over here. Maybe it is a business opportunity.
